This is a fun, mental stimulation game for dogs. It helps build confidence, and it also encourages your dog to sniff, something it loves to do!
You’ll need some plastic cups, small bowls or other items that you can use to cover up the treats. Please don’t use anything breakable that could shatter and hurt your pooch, or bowls that have a smooth underside as your dog may not be able to turn the bowl over to get to the treat. We use small plastic bowls with a rim on the underside. The rim will help your dog to topple the bowl over with its claws. Plastic cups will do the trick if you don’t have bowls.
Pop a treat under each bowl
When you have the treats hidden under the bowls, encourage your dog to find them. If your pooch doesn’t automatically try to find the treats, you may need to tap the bowls, or push them around a little. Some dogs might be nervous about tipping over the bowl / cup, and will need to be gently encouraged. For very nervous pups you could try slightly lifting up a bowl so the treats are more accessible, and gradually encourage your pup to have the courage to turn over the cover on its own.
A happy dog having fun searching for treats!
